| Rubondo Island lies in the southwest of Lake Victoria and is a National Park of Tanzania. The island is 240 kms square and combines the breathtaking natural beauty of a forest refuge with the relaxing tranquility of sandy lake shore beaches. Visitors may see sitatunga and have the chance of observing small gangs of chimpanzees. Other mammals frequently seen are hippo, otters, bushbuck and vervet monkeys. Rarer sightings are colobus monkeys, genet cats, marsh mongoose, suni antelope and elephant.
